Profile: Dr Viraj Kumar is a Visiting Professor at the Kotak-IISc AI-ML Centre at IISc Bangalore. After completing his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Prof Kumar's research has focused on Computer Science Education, with an emphasis on India-specific challenges. He serves as Chair of ACM India's Educational Initiatives Committee and is an elected member of the ACM India Council. In addition, he contributes to a variety of Teacher/Faculty Professional Development initiatives, including NPTEL Faculty workshops, IIIT Delhi's CSEDU Programme, and the teacher training programmes at IISc Challakere. For IISc's new B. Tech programme, Prof Kumar has contributed to a substantial redesign of the introductory course on programming in response to Generative AI.
